Civil War Soldiers Monument (zinc original, 1869) by unknown artist.
Located in Greenwood Cemetery, Brooklyn, New York. Bronze reproduction in 2002.

The life size zinc soldiers were neither structurally sound, nor artistically whole. Each soldier had lost their distinctive weapon or implement and almost all of them had lost their hands and various details leaving the soldiers deformed.

The missing parts were remodeled by a qualify and experienced sculptor using photos from Calvary Cemetery identical castings in bronze, stereo optic photos showing the monument as originally set, as well as arms and equipment from the same time period. Once the statues were true to their original state, they were used as models for their complete replication in bronze.

The four trophy tablets were created, cast in bronze, and installed for dedication on August 25, 2002 with the replica of the four soldier statues.
